Over the years, the Linux operating system has become a very popular operating system among computer enthusists as well as experimenting home users. The trouble with the Linux operating system has always been getting started. Phat Linux strives to eliminate this problem.

The partitioning demands of a ordinary Linux distributions make installing Linux very intimidating for many new users. Often times this can even defer experimenting. This is why Phat Linux has been created.

Phat Linux is very unique becuase it doesn't require a seperate hard drive partition, to be installed. It can be installed in a folder of a FAT32 partition. This means Phat Linux can be installed on the same partition as Windows.

Because of this feature, curious computer users are free to install Linux on their computer without the fear of losing valuable information. Phat Linux will install like a regular Windows application, but run as any other Linux installation would. Unlike conventional Linux distributions, Phat Linux can be removed with unprecedented ease.

Phat Linux uses a Windows based interface for its installation. There has never been more simple way to install Linux. Unlike other distributions of Linux, you will not need a book to figure out how to install it.

A common misconception with Linux is that there is a lack of applications. This is simply not true. Not only will Linux run existing Windows applications, but there are a full array of applications available for Linux, for every purpose. On top of that, there are several free office suites available for Linux!

Phat Linux also comes with a complete desktop environment. The packaged environment, XIMIAN GNOME, is a complete desktop environment built completely of free software. Click here to see a sample of what XIMIAN GNOME looks like.
